The Department of Neural and Pain Sciences encompasses the basic and clinical research activities in the area of Neuroscience of the Dental School at the University of Maryland. Our diversified research includes studies of neuronal physiology, sensory and motor systems and a major emphasis on pain research. The department provides training opportunities at all levels including graduate programs (PhD, DDS-PhD, DDS-Master), postdoctoral, junior and mid-career faculty training, and summer research programs for high school, pre-dental and premedical students.
